English-Rich Environment

We believe that increasing students' exposure to English at school is of the utmost importance for their language learning. Therefore, we are committed to constructing an English-rich environment in LYCMC, enabling students to put theory into practice by applying their acquired English knowledge in daily communication.

 

In terms of teaching staff, we have several NET teachers who not only instruct students in the classroom, but also guide them in extracurricular activities, such as rugby, tennis, and drama in English after class. Students are also welcome to have casual chit-chat with the NET teachers in our well-furnished English café during recess. This approach integrates learning with entertainment and relaxation, thus enhancing students' interest and motivation in learning English.

 

Moreover, we organize English Fun Days and encourage students to participate in various English activities, such as the Speech Festival, writing contests, dramatic performances, STEM workshops, etc., to help them explore their potential, which also benefits their personal growth. In addition, we also organize English study tours and homestay tours regularly to provide students with extra opportunities to learn more about English culture.

Meanwhile, to promote reading authentic materials for English acquisition, we hold English book fairs at school and make use of authentic materials such as English newspapers in teaching, which facilitates students’ understanding of using English in various real-life contexts.

 

In sum, the more exposure to and practice with English, the more confident students will be in learning English. We will continue our approach to boost our students’ English proficiency while broadening their horizons to prepare them to become future pillars of society.
